What’s in my Super Cheap Make-Up Bag

If you’re looking for a fancy make-up post, you’re in the wrong place. I have watched SO many make-up tutorial videos from women I know and women I don’t. They’re so fun and I LOVE seeing how different a girl looks after she spends one hour and half my mortgage on her face. Seriously though, they’re gorgeous. Well most of them. Some of the girls are so contoured they look like something my two year old colored on my beige walls. Now everyone calm down, I’m not knocking your contouring. Trust me, if I had the patience and money I would contour away my double chin, too. It’s just not my thing.

Y’all I’ve walked in Sephora SO.MANY.TIMES. I’ll leave my husband in Barnes & Noble and declare that today is the day. Today is the day that I’m going to go in there and I will NOT come out empty handed. I will buy something. Blush, eyeshadow, SOMETHING. The last time I tried this I checked out the lipstick selection. You guys, come one. $26 for lipstick? I can’t. If you can, I’m not judging. Because I will definitely spend too much money on something stupid like Taco Bell right after buying groceries, but not lipstick. I’m sort of psychotic and pick the crap out of my lips any time my hands are idle, so that $26 wouldn’t last me through one cup of coffee in the morning before I picked it off.

I’ve bought exactly one item from Sephora and it was a $12 tube of mascara that doesn’t work any better than my tried and true $5 and some change Loreal Voluminous mascara from Wal-Mart. I’m actually still using it right now, but when it’s gone I’ll be back to the same mascara I’ve used since I was 14 years old.

Maybe you’re wondering exactly what I do wear. Well let me just show you. Prepare to be not amazed.

All the fancy make-up gurus talk about primer. A few months ago I finally decided to give it a shot. I bought this from, you guessed it, Wal-Mart for around 7 bucks. It really does help keep my make-up on and my face looks much smoother on the days that I use it, opposed to going straight to my foundation/base/whatever you want to call it. This is what I use for that…

When I have more of a tan during those months that I apply way too much fake tanner {we’ll discuss that another day} I like to pretend to do my poor man’s version of contouring. I use a powdered bronzer for this. You guys, between the ages of 15 and 25 I had no idea the proper way to apply this stuff which resulted in Dorito Face. I finally learned to only hit the highlights/frame of my face which may still look like Dorito Face but whatevs.

It’s so dirty because it’s actually from my Senior Year…….Of High School.

E.L.F. is one of my favorite make-up brands because it’s cheap and good. Like all of my other make-up but for some reason I still prefer this.

As you can see, I use all of these colors because I don’t follow rules of using your eyes & hair color as a color guide. It’s all about my mood.

On to my eyes. I mix this up quite a bit. Well not really, just like two different ways. If you haven’t learned, I sorta exaggerate. Anywho, I bought both of these off my neighbor in a bulk of make-up she was selling. Along with a pallet I bought from Avon 89 years ago, this is my favorite eye shadow right now. My eyeliner and brow pencil are both from Avon. I know, I’m like a 90 year old woman with my Avon purchases. But I started buying this liner years ago and it’s my favorite. I’ve tried a few others and they sucked. No, I don’t use liquid eye liner. Judge away, haters gon’ hate.

That brush at the bottom is what I use to blend my brows to get them on fleek.

I know gobs of women who sell Younique make-up. I’ve tried a couple of things from there over the last few years. Most of it I can’t make myself “go back for more” except for their lip gloss. It’s more than I like to spend, but I like to support my friends when they host parties and usually buy a new shade of lip gloss. My favorite right now is LOVESICK and I wear it over some random lip stick I bought from Wal-Mart. Looks great together!

And this, friends is the face you achieve with super-cheap make-up from your local Wal-Marts.
